PLACE AT MY TABLE

1st Sutton Literary Festival

Place at my Table charity works in partnership with communities through creative and vibrant community engagement events to develop strong networks of support for people who face significant disadvantaged, such as poverty, physical and mental health difficulties and other inequalities. The 1st Sutton Literary festival celebrated the creativity of Sutton and its green spaces.
Run by Place at my Table charity with independent producer Jacqueline Crooks.
The festival featured a host of wonderful line-up of award-winning and debut writers, including local writers.

My role:

I was approached by Jacqueline Crooks, the festival’s producer, with a specific brief: to create a well-designed visual identity for the inaugural Sutton Literary Festival. The identity would be applied across various marketing materials. The theme was inspired by vintage Underground posters, and the main venue — the beautiful Honeywood Museum in Sutton — became a focal point. I illustrated the museum in the vintage poster style and chose a colour palette that reflected the borough’s green spaces and cultural venues.

With a line-up of award-winning writers and authors, the marketing materials needed to be not just informative, but also inspiring — capturing the creativity and storytelling at the heart of the festival.

Key achievements:

I developed a strong visual identity that was easy to apply across the various marketing materials, resulting in a consistent look and feel that gave the festival a distinctive personality. I also designed a 24-page programme that brought together a large amount of information — including talks, workshops, venues, and schedules — and presented it in a way that was clear, well-organised, and visually engaging for visitors.

The following screenshots showcase the finished marketing materials designed for the inaugural Sutton Literary Festival.
